2009-10 Season Preview

Spokane is returning all six players who competed in the NWAACC Championship Tournament as freshman last season, finishing in a tie for first place at 16-under par, before losing in a four on four sudden death playoff to South Western Oregon Community College.  Spokane also won the regular season NWAACC Championship and seven of the eleven tournaments that they played in.

Returning sophomore Kyler Gable earned First Team All-Conference recognition, while returning sophomores Jason Molner and Taylor Porter were named to the second team.

Gable and Porter were joined on the All-NWAACC Championship Tournament Team by returning sophomores Sam Krause and Tyler Johnson.  Johnson, Porter and Gable all placed fourth in the championship tournament with a two day total of 3-under par.  Sam Krause finished in second place with a two day total of 6-under par.  Returning sophomore, Corey Meyers finished the tournament at even par, including a 3-under par, 69 on the final day.

Spokane will use last season's success and the experience from the six returning players, paired with incoming freshman Justin Spengel (Southridge High School, Kennewick, WA), Brooks Guetlin (South Whidbey High School, Freeland, WA) and Cole Campbell (Penticton, BC) to compete for another regular season NWAACC championship and to contend for the season ending NWAACC Championship Tournament.

“All of the guys have been playing in summer tournaments all over the Pacific Northwest this summer, gaining experience and getting better.  With the six great players returning from last year’s successful season and the three freshmen we have coming in, it is creating a lot of excitement here at Spokane,” said Coach Scott Kramer.

The first practice of the 2009-10 season will begin on September 15th.
