The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for March is Chanel James.  James, a freshman CCS track and field athlete, has had an incredible start to the season with two NWAACC-leading marks from the Willamette Invite, Dusty Lane Open, and Sasquatch Mini-meet.  Her 100m time (12.23) is almost a full half-second faster than her closest NWAACC rival, and her long jump (18’ 01”) is enough already to have won the NWAACC title the past five seasons.  At the prestigious University of Washington Invite, Chanel jumped 18’6 ½” breaking the CCS indoor long jump record by one foot.  Chanel is also the anchor leg of the CCS 4x100m relay team (48.94) which is currently second in the NWAACC.  With more than a month left this season, there will be plenty of opportunities for Chanel to improve her marks and add her name to CCS track and field lore.

The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for March is Cody Reeves.  Cody is a sophomore infielder on the CCS baseball team and has established himself as one of the leaders.  He is a tremendously hard worker on and off the field. Cody is currently eighth in the NWAACC in batting average hitting at a .438 clip.  He leads the team in hits with 28 and is third on the team in runs batted in with 13.  In the classroom Cody has a cumulative grade point average of 2.97.  Cody is also an active member of the District Athletic Committee.
