2009-10 Season Preview
Spokane enters the season gunning for their fourth NWAACC title in a row; this would seem unlikely if one were only to look at who we lost last year. Brittney Sanchez, Katie Owens, Karen Owens and Amy Durrance all finished in the top ten at last year’s NWAACC championship meet. However, Spokane gains Whatcom transfer and 2008 Cross Country All-American Lauren North (5K 18:57) and the 2005 NWAACC Cross Country runner up Kelly Turner (18:57) plus ever improving sophomores Armarose Bailey (5K 19:22) and Melissa Sweeney (5K 19:24). A strong freshman class of Megan Dart (19:56, 2:22, 59.8), who led the lady Sasquatch in her first collegiate race in a PR 19:52, Rachel McDaniel(20:33, 58.03), Alia Sledge(Mead), Phaedra Cote(Pacific Shores) and Julie Hogan(Riverside) look to provide the depth that the team will need to defend their title. Look for great things from this year’s squad as the season progresses because these girls are ready for the challenge.
