Tyler Johnson Claims NWAACC Medalist Honor

Tyler Johnson shot rounds of 71-70 (141) to finish at 3-under par and claim the prestigious NWAACC medalist honor on the difficult Cascade and Olympic Golf Courses at the Golf Mountain Golf Complex in Bremerton, WA.  Spokane had all six golfers place in the top ten of the tournament but fell to Bellevue College by one shot for the team title.  KC Chang of Bellevue shot an incredible 8-under par, 64 on the Olympic Course during the final round.  He shot 78 during the opening round.

Kyler Gable (73-71), Jason Molner (73-71) and Sam Krause (74-70) finished in a tie for fifth with even par, 144’s.  Corey Meyers (70-75) and Taylor Porter (71-74) tied for 10th with 1-over par, 145’s.  Johnson, Gable, Molner and Krause all earned All-Tournament honors.  Spokane was 9-under par as a team for the tournament.

The six sophomores capped of their CCS and NWAACC careers as one of the most dominant teams in NWAACC history.  Their 13 tournament victories as a team and eight second place finishes are very impressive.  Many of the team victories and runner up finishes were in tournaments with four-year school competition.  Over the course of the two years, each player won at least one medalist title, including Jason Molner’s three victories, all in big invitationals.  “I will miss this group of guys very much.  Not only are they incredible golfers, but also just a great group of people to be around.  They enjoyed a lot of success on the golf course and in the classroom.  I wish them the best of luck and I look forward to following their progress as they continue to compete at the next level,” stated coach, Scott Kramer.
