Sophomores Finish at Home with a Win

ActionThe Community Colleges of Spokane Men’s Basketball team sent off their sophomores with a hard fought 91-80 win over Columbia Basin at Spokane Community College. The Sasquatch (20-5, 10-3) used a hot-shooting first half to take a 46-34 lead into the break and were able to withstand a couple runs by the Hawks (8-17, 5-8) in the second half to secure the win.

Spokane was led in scoring by Zack Humphrey with 18 points, connecting on six three-point attempts. Griffon Jones (14), Chris Pynch (13), Kevin Bond (13) and Brad Johnson (11) also scored in double figures. Danny Marshall led the team with nine rebounds and Pynch and Chaz Johnson each had six assists.

It was the final home game for six Sasquatch players who have been instrumental in the success of the program over the last two years. Chris Pynch (Riverside Christian), Griffon Jones (Cheney), Zack Humphrey (Shadle Park), Brad Johnson (Central Valley), Kevin Bond (Gonzaga Prep) and Cary Conklin (Clarkston) have all played an integral part in continuing a tradition of success at Spokane.

Spokane will play at Yakima at 8:00 pm on Wednesday night in their final regular season game. Seeding for the NWAACC tournament is at stake, as well as a chance at a share of the Eastern Region title for the Sasquatch.
