The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December is Brandy Sonderland. Brandy, a sophomore on the CCS volleyball team, has been the starting right side hitter for the past two seasons. She was recently nominated First Team Eastern Region and led the team to a fourth place finish at the 2007 NWAACC championship tournament. Brandy has led the team in hitting percentage both years with over .277 and had a total of 327 kills in 2007 heading into the conference tournament. Brandy also has a wicked top spin serve.
In addition, Brandy has excelled in the classroom and has the highest grade point average on the team. Going into the fall her GPA was a 3.82, and knowing Brandy, it is only getting better. She is interested in education and becoming a teacher and coach. Brandy is a powerful left handed player who will impact any school she attends in the future.

The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December is Jon Clift. Jon is a sophomore point guard for the men’s basketball team and a 2006 graduate of Ferris High School in Spokane. He is a two-year starter for the Bigfoot basketball team and his toughness, tenacity, and unselfish play have helped lead the Sasquatch to a 15-1 record and number one ranking in the NWAACC. Most importantly, Jon epitomizes the term "scholar-athlete" having posted a 3.63 grade point average and a spot on the Presidents Honor Roll as well.
