Strong Defensive Effort Lifts Sasquatch Over Knights
Damal Neil tossed in a game-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor and the Community Colleges of Spokane Sasquatch pulled away late to gain a 69-51 victory over the Wenatchee Valley College Knights in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges action Saturday at Spokane Community College. The Sasquatch struggled from the field in the first half, but held Wenatchee (8-15, 2-7) to 22 points in the opening period to grab a 31-22 lead going into the break.
“This was the second game in a row now where we have come out with a great focus defensively,” said Spokane coach Clint Hull. “That, combined with our ability to take care of the ball were the two major keys as far as I am concerned,” he added.
Derek Gianukakis chipped in 13 points for Spokane (16-4, 8-1) who remains in a first place tie with Yakima Valley. Kevin Cameron added seven assists.
