Wally Heidenson is a six-time winner of the NWAACC Coach of the Year Award. Since 1998 as a coach of both men's and women's tennis, the women have won two state championships while the men have finished second three times. He coached the Community Colleges of Spokane's men's team from 1977 to 1990, leading the men to two NWAACC Championships. 

In addition, Heidenson is a Nationally Certified Tennis Professional who had a successful playing career in college, beginning at SFCC, then at Eastern Washington University where he led the Eagles to a district title and the only nationals appearance in school history. Later he played throughout the Pacific Northwest, earning top rankings in both singles and doubles.

In the 21 years Heidenson spent as a Tennis Professional at the Spokane Racquet Club, he worked extensively with juniors of all levels, from beginners to nationally ranked players.
