Molner Paces Sasquatch on way to Fourth Place Finish

Action

CCS began the spring league season with a fourth place finish at the Bellevue Community College Invitational on April 5-6.  The tournament was held at the par 70 Redmond Ridge Golf Club on the first day and the second day was held at the Glendale Country Club, par 72.  CCS shot a 302 team score the first day, leaving them in fifth place.  “The weather was fantastic with the temperature near 70, but the course was still very wet and it had hazards lining almost every hole.  Unfortunately, we hit it in a few hazards,” commented Coach Kramer.

Spokane made up some ground on the field during the seconnd day of competition, shooting another 302, but it was not enough to overcome Southwestern Oregon Community College and Bellevue Community College who both shot a team score of 594, 10 strokes ahead of Spokane.  Walla Walla Community College held on to edge out CCS by one stroke for third place.  SWOCC beat BCC in a four on four sudden death playoff.  The tournament was the second of four league matches where all of the teams in the NWAACC compete.  After the first two tournaments, Spokane has 16 points trailing Bellevue and Southwestern Oregon who have 17 and Walla Walla who has 18.  There will be a regular season NWAACC champion and a champion of the NWAACC tournament that is held in Walla Walla on May 17-18 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course.

Jason Molner led the way with a 74-75, 149 followed by Tyler Johnson with a 78-73, 151.  Nick Fasiano of Southwestern Oregon was medalist with a 71-72, 143.

Next up for the Sasquatch is the Spokane Cup at Circling Raven Golf Course in Worley, ID on Friday April 10th at 1:00 pm.  The match is the extension of the fall Spokane Cup between Gonzaga University and Whitworth University.  Spokane is four shots back of Gonzaga.  Sam Krause has the lead for medalist with his 4 under par, 68 that he fired in the fall Spokane Cup at MeadowWood Golf Course.
