Spokane Wins Bigfoot Invitational for Second Year in a Row

Jason Molner

Spokane used a 7 shot lead after the first day at the Highlands Golf Course in Post Falls, ID and stayed even with second place Bellevue on the second day at the Links Golf Course in Rathdrum ID to win the tournament with a 297-308, 595.  The scores were much higher on the second day because of high winds and the length of the course.  The men played the windy course at 7200 yards.

Matt Epstein of Bellevue edged CCS freshman, Kyler Gable for medalist honors by 2 strokes.  Gable shot an even par 72 during the first round and finished with a 2 over par 74 on the second day.  Jason Molner used a 2 under par first round to help him finish in a tie for third place at 148.  Taylor Porter and Sam Krause both shot good first round scores, but struggled in the wind on the second day and finished in a tie for thirteenth.

“Although this tournament did not count for league standings, it has traditionally been one of the bigger, more competitive tournaments throughout the years.  It is always a goal to win your own tournament and I am really proud of the way the guys stayed tough while playing in some difficult conditions,” said Coach Scott Kramer.

Next up for the Sasquatch is the final regular season tournament of the year at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, WA.  The tournament is hosted by Green River Community College.  Spokane is in a three way tie for first place with Walla Walla CC and Southwestern Oregon CC.
