CCS Men’s Golf Team Participated in the Inland Challenge

ActionThe Spokane Men’s Golf team got a rare opportunity to compete against some Washington State University golfers for the second time in the same season.  WSU, Lewis Clark State College and North Idaho College participated in a one-day, 36 hole event played in the morning at The University of Idaho Golf Course with an afternoon round at the prestigious Palouse Ridge Golf Course in Pullman.  The event was played in some of the worst golfing weather conditions that have been seen in quite some time.  Throughout the day the players saw a lot of snow, hail and mostly a lot of rain, but the common factor was a ton of wind all day long.

Despite the poor weather conditions the CCS team represented themselves very well against some outstanding talent.  Spokane was led by Tyler Johnson’s 4th place finish with rounds of 75-74.  Corey Meyers was 7th with a 74-77 and Sam Krause’s 1-over par 73 at Palouse Ridge was only 1 stroke off of the low round of the afternoon.  WSU’s Hank Frame shot 68-72 to claim medalist honors.  “The purpose of the event was to get the opportunity to play against some great competition and expose our players to four-year school coaches.  Our players love the chance to test themselves against great players and as a coach that is a lot of fun,” said Coach Kramer.  Spokane shot team rounds of 303-298, finishing 18 shots back of WSU.  Lewis Clark State College finished 17 shots back of Spokane.

Spokane will be competing in the 3rd annual Bigfoot/Cardinal Classic on May 2-3 against North Idaho College.  Spokane has won the first two events.
