4/28/14- Evan Omelia and Spokane Win Again

Evan Omelia has had a very successful and decorated career in his year and a half playing golf for the Sasquatch. He has shot many rounds at or under par and has won 5 individual titles.  No victory or 2-day tournament was more impressive than his 8 shot victory at the 7950 yard, par 72 McCormick Woods Golf Course in Port Orchard, WA.  The golf course is known for being very wet and playing very long.  It features tight, tree-lined holes with water hazards and out of bounds.  Omelia shot rounds of 70-71 to finish at 3-under par and dominate the 3rd NWAACC Conference event of the season.

Teammate Cole Lorenzo finished in 3rd place with rounds of 77-75.  "Normally we would not be satisfied with shooting rounds over 300 as a team or counting scores over 75 individually, but the course was a true test of golf and the conditions were not easy.  The Olympic College Golf Coach, Bjorn Bjorke intentionally set the course up as they would for a NCAA D-1 golf tournament.  Evan answered the challenge and shot very impressive rounds of golf," stated Head Coach Scott Kramer.

Zack Spencer finished in the top 10 with a 2-day total of 158.

Spokane shot rounds of 307-299 to win the event by 20 shots over host Olympic College.  The Sasquatch have won all 3 NWAACC Conference events of the season with the 4th on May 11-12 at Bandon Dunes.
