Porter Leads Way as CCS Wins by 14

CCS capped off a great fall season with a 14 stroke victory over second place Walla Walla CC in the Columbia Basin College Invitational, shooting a two day total of 600 (307-293).  Freshman Taylor Porter finished in second place with a 77-72 (149) on the par 72 Horn Rapids Golf Course in Richland, WA.  CCS overcame high winds during the first day and extremely difficult pin placements both days to earn the victory.

Freshman Sam Krause and Jason Molner each shot 151 for the two days, giving the Sasquatch 3 players in the top 5 with their 4th place finishes.  Corey Meyers and Jonathan Lumper each shot 152 to finish in a tie for 4th, followed by Kyler Gable with a 154, placing 9th.  Each of the 6 CCS players competing in the team competition placed in the top 10 in the field of 47 golfers.

CCS played in 3 big invitationals during the fall season, winning 2 and finishing in 2nd in the other.  The 2nd place finish was at the WWCC Invitational where the Sasquatch finished 1 stroke out of first to the host team.

“The guys had an outstanding fall season, establishing themselves as one of the favorites to win the NWAACC Championship in the spring.  I am extremely proud of their work ethic and performance on the golf course and in the classroom.  We look forward to working hard in the weight room during the offseason and returning to the course in March,” commented Head Coach, Scott Kramer.
