Spokane Struggles in Eastern Region Opener
Spokane opened up Eastern Region play on Wednesday with a loss at the hands of Yakima Valley CC. Spokane lost the opener 9-4. Yakima scored three runs in the first inning on back to back to back doubles. Starter Rex Ireland took the loss for Spokane. In his five innings of work he gave up eight hits and walked one batter. Spokane scored four runs on ten hits in the game. Jordan Johnson lead the way with three hits. Cory Kreighbaum added two doubles in the game.
The Second game of the scheduled double header was suspended due to darkness heading into the 10th inning with the score tied at seven. Spokane scored a run in the ninth inning on an RBI double by Braden Friesz. The game will be completed when Spokane travels to Yakima for the regularly scheduled double header.
Spokane will travel to Columbia Basin College on Saturday afternoon.
