Sean McLachlan

Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach

In his seventh year at Spokane, first as head coach, Coach McLachlan guided the men to the 2009 NWAACC championships this past fall in cross country (ninth in a row) and the women to a second place finish.  In addition he was named 2009 NWAACC Coach of the Year for the men and Co-Coach of the Year for the women.  He has coached 35 cross country All-Americans in only his sixth year of coaching and he has worked with 64 distance All-Americans in track.

Sean is a graduate of West Valley High School of Spokane in 1999.  He enrolled at CCS where he earned a total of three All-American awards, one in cross country and two in the 3000 steeplechase.  After graduating from Spokane in 2001, Sean transferred to Southern Utah University where he majored in physical education.  While at SUU, he improved his steeplechase best to 9:12.  He was MID-CON All-Conference in cross country and the 2004 Indoor Champion in the 5000 meters as well as the 3000 meter runner-up.  His personal bests are 1:55 in the 800, 4:18 in the 1600, 9:33 in the 3200, and 9:12 in the 3000 steeplechase.  McLachlan has since picked up a degree in Special Education from EWU.  He is an adjunct faculty member at Spokane Community College where he teaches in the physical education department.

Sean and his wife, Rachel a former Sasquatch All-American sprinter and jumper, reside in Spokane with their daughter Mae and son Owen.
