1979-1980

The 1979-80 CCS women’s gymnastics team won the NJCAA National Championship and set a new championship meet team scoring record in the process. Coaches Rick Harrison and Jo McDonald were named Coaches of the Year at the end of the meet. The team was led by All-Americans Kerri Kanegae who won the Floor Exercise and All-Around championships and Dauphyne Yocom who won the Uneven Bars. Jennifer Moseman and Shelli Waddell were also named All-Americans for their performance in the championship meet. Helen Balabanis, Suzy Barrett, Karla Everett, Tracey Hildebrand, Suzy Hutchinson, and Becky McWilliams were the other team members who contributed to the championship effort.

1980-1981

The 1980-81 CCS women’s gymnastics team won the NJCAA National Championship for the second straight year and set a new team scoring record as well. Head Coach Rick Harrison was named the Coach of the Year for his effort with the team. The team was led by All-Americans Lisa Bollinger (Floor Exercise and All-Around), Kerri Kanegae (Uneven Bars), Rhona Roberts (Beam and All-Around), Theresa Peterson (Beam), and Gail Thieman who won the individual vault medal. Other team members who helped win the championship included DeAnn Brewer, Shelly Bolton, Tracy Flanigan, Shelli Waddell and Assistant Coach Jo McDonald.

1981-1982
The 1981-82 CCS women’s gymnastics team won the National NJCAA Championship for the third straight year and again set a national team scoring record. Rick Harrison was named the National Coach of the Year at the end of the meet for the fourth year in a row. Four Spokane gymnasts were named All-American for their performance in the championship meet; Lisa Bollinger (All-Around), Rhona Roberts (All-Around), Gail Thieman (Vault) and Karen Erickson who won both the Beam and Floor Exercise Championships. Debbie Gettig, Tracy Grant, Vivian Norby, Jolene Olson, Theresa Peterson, and Assistant Coach Jo McDonald all contributed to the championship effort.
