Spokane Defends Home Court

ActionThe Community Colleges of Spokane Men’s Basketball team bounced back with a “defensive” effort against Wenatchee Valley College to gain a commanding 85-43 victory over the Knights at Spokane Falls. After falling to Big Bend to open conference play on Saturday, Spokane jumped all over Wenatchee early in the game and never looked back. The Sasquatch held a 22-7 lead six minutes into the game while making seven of their first eight field goal attempts for the game.

Spokane held a 25 point lead midway through the first half, but Wenatchee Valley caught fire and cut the lead to 13 at half. The Sasquatch, however, came out with a focused effort on the defensive end and held the Knights to 10 points the second half on 3-27 shooting.

Griffon Jones led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points. Chris Pynch (12), Brad Johnson (12), Kevin Bond (10) and Zack Humphrey (10) also scored in double figures for Spokane.

The Sasquatch will host perennial East Region power Yakima Valley at 4:00 pm at SCC this Saturday.
