Sasquatch Fall Short at Blue Mountain
The Blue Mountain Timberwolves completed the season sweep of the Community Colleges of Spokane men’s basketball team Friday night in Pendleton with a 68-65 victory over the Sasquatch. The first half went back and forth with neither team leading by more than five points before entering halftime knotted up at 28 points apiece.
The second half started out with both teams trading baskets before Blue Mountain pulled away to take a 13 point lead at 59-47 before Spokane stormed back. With under a minute to play, Spokane had cut the margin to three points and had the ball, but ultimately turned it over on that possession, resulting in the final score.
“It was unfortunate that we didn’t have our best effort for the full 40 minutes tonight,” said Head Coach Clint Hull. “Obviously we didn’t shoot the ball particularly well, and give them credit for contesting our shots, but the bottom line is that we didn’t come out with the focus we needed in order to win a conference game on the road.”
Spokane struggled from beyond the arc converting on just 6/27 three-point attempts. Damal Neil led Spokane with 22 points and 6 rebounds while Brad Johnson chipped in 10 points. Spokane travels to Treasure Valley tomorrow night for an 8:00 pm MST tip-off.
