Sasquatch Split Opening Weekend

On Saturday, Spokane opened the baseball season with a sweep of Clackamas Community College.  Spokane took the first game 6-2. DJ Smith started on the mound going eight strong innings striking out 12 against no walks. Smith allowed his only run in the eighth inning. Dylan Boe led Spokane at the plate with three hits, two of them doubles. Brenden Herzer and Trevor Lahonta added two hits apiece in the opener.

Spokane won game two 5-4. Seven of the nine starters on offense tallied a hit for Spokane. Dylan Boe hit his first homerun in a Sasquatch Uniform on in the 4th inning. Ethan Potter earned the win in relief for Spokane. Potter went an inning and two thirds striking out four without allowing a run. Nate Shea earned the save throwing a scoreless inning.

Linn-Benton took both games on Sunday. Spokane dropped the first game 7-5. Starter Grant Curtis went five scoreless innings striking out four and walking two. Hayden Knight took the loss for Spokane in relief.  Jason Pattis and Trevor LaHonta led the way for Spokane with two hits each. Brenden Herzer chipped in with a two RBI.

Spokane lost the final game of the weekend 9-3. Starter Ricky Gonzalez took the loss for Spokane. Gonzalez went three innings allowing five runs on 5 hits. Jason Pattis, Alex Wolf and Chad Nyquist all had two hits in the game for Spokane.

Spokane will travel to Western Washington next weekend to take on Edmonds Bellevue on Saturday and Sunday.
