Spokane Men’s and Women’s Basketball to Compete in the NWAACC Championships March 5-8 in Kennewick, WA

BournThe CCS men’s and women’s basketball teams have again qualified for the season-ending basketball championships to be played at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA on March 5-8.  NWAACC basketball is divided into four regions and to qualify for the championships, teams must finish in the top four of their respective regions. 

The Spokane men earned a #2 seed by finishing Eastern Region play with an 11-3 record and a 19-7 overall record.  The men will play the #3 team from the North, Skagit Valley in the first round at 12:00 pm on March 3rd.  Spokane earned a 5th place trophy in last year’s championships.

The Lady Sasquatch earned the #3 seed out of the Eastern Region with a 10-4 record in region play and an overall record of 20-6.  Spokane will play the opening game of the tournament at 8:00 am on Saturday, March 3rd against the North Region’s #2 seed, Whatcom Community College. Spokane earned a 5th place trophy in last year’s championships.

The Spokane men are ranked #4 in the final NWAACC Horizon Air Coaches Poll of the 2010-2011 basketball season.

The Spokane women dropped out of the final poll for the first time this season and were the first team to receive votes outside of the top 8.
