Darby Moberg


Taylor King

The Community College of Spokane’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for March is Darby Moberg.  Darby, a sophomore from Freeman High School, has played a vital role in the success of the CCS women’s golf team.  She is a Team Captain who provides tremendous leadership.  At the Columbia Basin Invitational Darby finished second overall, shooting 80-86.  Darby is also a successful student.  During winter quarter 2010 she earned a 4.0 while enrolled in 18 credits, which brings her overall grade point average to a 3.8 cumulative.  Darby will continue her college career at Whitworth University where she will be a member of the Pirate golf team.

The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for March is Taylor King. Taylor has been instrumental in the early success for the baseball program so far this season. The sophomore from Missoula, Montana, has started every game this season at second base. He is hitting .348 and has driven in 11 runs. Taylor has also stolen seven bases and scored 13 runs. He has all of the qualities that define a student athlete. Taylor provides outstanding leadership within the program and helps promote CCS athletics campus wide by serving on the District Athletic Committee. In the classroom Taylor carries a 3.77 cumulative GPA.  Taylor will be attending Hawaii Pacific University next fall on a baseball scholarship and to complete his degree.
