Bruce Johnson


Women's Basketball Head Coach

Bruce is entering his 24th year with the women's basketball program and 21st year as the head coach.  His 2007-08 team had another winning season finishing 10-4 in region play and 22-8 overall  placing 3rd in the region and 2nd in the NWAACC.  Spokane remains the second all-time winningest team in NWAACC championship tournament history.  The Lady Sasquatch have placed 16 times and have an overall record of 36 wins and 28 losses in NWAACC tournament play.  Only Skagit Valley College has placed more times than Spokane.  Bruce’s teams have won four Eastern Region Championships (back-to-back in 1993-94 and 1994-95, and 1998-99 and 1999-00).  He was voted Coach of the Year for the 1993-94, 1994-95, 2001-02 and 2005-06 seasons.
Bruce is the all-time winning coach in Lady Sasquatch history.  His overall record is 408 wins and 191 losses and his league record is 172 wins and 78 losses.  His teams have averaged 20 wins each year and have participated in 16 NWAACC championship tournaments in 20 years.  Bruce played two years for Spokane Community College under coach Craig Johnson and two years at Yankton College in South Dakota. He also played professionally in Adelaide, South Australia.  He earned his master’s degree from Eastern Washington University in 1985. Bruce has two daughters, Nikiko and Miyako, and a son Chaz.
