Jim Martinson is in his ninth season as the Community Colleges of Spokane's women's head coach.  He spent seven seasons as the men's assistant coach at CCS from 1994 to 2001 and rejoined men’s staff as an assistant again in 2005.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Martinson attended Whitworth College from 1989 to1993 where he completed his bachelor's degree in sports medicine and physical education.  In 1992, he was the NCSC Player of the Year and a NAIA All-American.  From 1995 to 1997, Martinson played in the USL for the Spokane Shadow soccer team.  He finished his master's degree in athletic administration at Whitworth College in 1999.  Martinson currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National "C" license.   Martinson also holds a position with the Spokane Shadow youth soccer club coaching at the U-11 and U-13 age groups.

In seven seasons with the CCS women's soccer program he has compiled an overall record of 104-55-27 with a record of 93-40-20 against NWAACC teams. Martinson’s teams have made six playoff appearances, three of which were in the final four. He earned Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and again in 2006.  Under his direction in 2006, Spokane won CCS’ first ever NWAACC women’s soccer championship boasting a 20-3-2 record. Coach Martinson's knowledge of the game and experience is a wonderful attribute for the CCS women's soccer program.

He has a beautiful wife, Terri, and four daughters, Ashtin, Riley, Abbigail and Gracelynn.
