Spokane Falters on the Road at Yakima

ActionThe Community College of Spokane Men’s Basketball fell in a hard fought loss at Yakima Valley on Saturday by a score of 81-73. The Yaks (1-2, 8-6) got off to a hot start and pulled away midway through the first half. Spokane scrapped back into the game to pull within six points going into halftime. Spokane made a couple spirited runs in the second half, but Yakima’s Ryan Dornik (24 points) helped hang on to the lead with clutch shooting from the perimeter.

“We struggled early converting some easy looks inside and dug ourselves a little hole,” said Head Coach Clint Hull. “Yakima does not have any true big men so we needed to take advantage of that on the offensive end and we didn’t do it early, and that was compounded by the fact that we shot poorly from the free throw line,” Hull added.

Spokane was led in scoring by Preston Wynne with 21 points, including 4-8 from three point range. Danny Marshall scored 17 points and Chaz Johnson added 13 points and seven rebounds. Taylor Petterson also scored in double figures with 10 points.
