Sasquatch Men Open League Play with Win

ActionThe Community College of Spokane Men’s Basketball team opened up NWAACC East Region play with a 95-72 victory over the Big Bend Vikings (0-1, 8-4) on Saturday at Spokane Falls. Both teams played extremely hard in a first half that saw Spokane take a 41-40 lead into the break. In the second half, Spokane pulled away during a 14-2 run midway through highlighted by a Nate Frisbie dunk off a pass from Ross Buchert and back-to-back three pointers by Rodney Delgardo.

“I think in the second half our depth really began to show and we were able to pressure them into a few turnovers defensively that led to some easy baskets,” said Coach Clint Hull. “Every night out in our league you are going to face a tough opponent and we are happy to get a win tonight,” Hull added.

The Sasquatch (1-0, 9-4) were led in scoring by Preston Wynne with 21 points. Chaz Johnson pitched in with 14 points and seven assists and Danny Marshall added 12 points and nine rebounds. Rodney Delgardo and DeAngelo Jones each scored 11 points off the bench for Spokane.

Spokane will face Wenatchee Valley College (1-0, 7-4) in Wenatchee on Wednesday, January 12 at 8:00 pm.
