Anthony Brown

The Community Colleges of Spokane Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September is Kasey Jurich.  Kasey, a sophomore from University High School, is an outside attacker for the Bigfoot volleyball team.  She has posted 166 kills on the year, leads the team in aces with 38, and has 2.8 digs per game.  She is a focused player who has worked hard to be a sophomore force on the squad.  Kasey works equally as hard in the classroom as she currently has a 3.8 GPA and is now making plans to transfer with her A.A. degree.

The Community Colleges of Spokane’s Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for September is Anthony Brown.  Anthony is a freshman and comes to CCS from University High School.  On October 3rd at the Willamette Invitational Anthony catapulted himself into the record books as he finished 14th out of 314 runners and ran 24:39 for 8K to put him third all-time in the CCS record books, averaging 4:56 per mile for 5 miles.   Anthony has been the number one runner on a deep Sasquatch team for the first three races as the nine-time defending NWAACC Champions aim to defend their title.  During this season Anthony has beaten runners from Gonzaga, Whitworth, Lewis-Clark State, Washington State, University of Great Falls, Whitman, University of Idaho and Portland State.  Anthony has a quiet personality but leads by example and because of his hard work he has a legitimate shot at the NWAACC title.  Anthony has not decided on a course of study just yet but is working hard in the classroom.
