4/15/14- Omelia Leads Spokane to a Big Victory in a Four-Year School Event

Spokane rode the coat tails of sophomore golf star, Evan Omelia to a 10-shot victory in the Lewis Clark State College Invitational played at the 6700 yard, par 72 Lewiston Country Club in Lewiston, ID.  The 54-hole event was a Frontier Conference League Tournament filled with 7 NAIA schools and NJCAA D-1 North Idaho College.

Evan Omelia picked up his 4th individual title in his Sasquatch golf career by posting rounds of 74-70-70 to finish at 2-under par and win by 4-shots over his nearest competitor.  The tournament featured 36 holes of play on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday morning.  Unfortunately, some players had to finish play in round 2 at 7:00 am on Tuesday morning before starting the 3rd and final round.  Freshman Zack Spencer was 7-under par on the difficult golf course with 2 holes to play when the tournament was postponed due to darkness.  He lost his momentum over night and finished with a 4-under par, 68 in round 2.

Cole Lorenzo (78-74-73) tied for 5th and Zack Spencer ( 82-68-77) tied for 8th.  John Duffin ( 76-74-79) and Cooper Wright (76-74-79) tied for 11th.  Tof Chapin shot a nice 74 in his final round playing as an individual.

Spokane was down 12 shots to host Lewis Clark State College after the first 18 hole round and found themselves in the lead by 5 shots after round 2.  The Sasquatch shot a 2-under par, 286.

Spokane extended it's lead in the final round to claim the victory behind Omelia's 70 and Lorenzo's 73.
