Sasquatch Struggle in First Outing of Spring Season

Jason MolnerThe CCS men’s golf team has not had much practice on or near the greens in this snow- filled spring golf season and it showed at the Lewis-Clark State Invitational at the Clarkston Country Club on March 16-17.  The spring golf season officially started on March 1st and the Sasquatch have spent most of the time since the start date hitting balls into a net, hitting balls onto the football field and shagging them or working out in the weight room.  “The guys did not play nearly as well as they would have liked at the first tournament, but that is to be expected without being able to practice or to not had the chance to play a full round of 18 holes prior to the tournament,” commented head coach, Scott Kramer.

CCS shot 323-309 for a two-day total of 632.  The University of Victoria won the tournament with an impressive 574, followed by host LCSC at 588.  CCS finished 5th in the 9 team field.  Taylor Porter finished tied for 17th with a 156, followed by Jason Molner who finished 22nd with a 158.  Robert Lane, Tyler Johnson and Kyler Gable all shot 160, placing them in a tie for 24th.  M. Arima from Concordia Portland and M. Eyaecz from the University of Victoria tied for medalist with 7-under par at 137.

The Sasquatch are looking forward to some of the area courses opening in the near future and getting a chance to work on their games.  Next up is the Bellevue Community College Invitational on April 5-6.  It is an all-NWAACC tournament and will count towards league standings.
