Bill Johnson
Position:
Softball Assistant Coach
Bill Johnson started coaching softball when the Community Colleges of Spokane’s softball program began in 1985. He was a CCS baseball coach before making the transition to softball. He agreed to coach for two years, but his love for the game and the willingness of female athletes to learn the game right has kept him coming back for more.
Coach Johnson was an all-star three-sport athlete at Richland High School where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He was his baseball team’s all-State shortstop. Coach Johnson was a professional scout for the Kansas City Royals for many years and a physical education instructor at SFCC for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
Bill is now in his 19th season of coaching softball. He is our infield coach. We are fortunate to have him in our program. His wisdom, expectations of his players, and his subtle sense of humor are enjoyed by all who have the opportunity to play for him.
