Sasquatch Remain Tied for First Place

Big BendZach Humphrey scored 15 points and Community Colleges of Spokane overcame a cold-shooting second half Wednesday to defeat host Big Bend 65-56 in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges men’s basketball play Wednesday at Moses Lake.

CCS shot 7 of 23 from the field in the second half, but the Vikings (11-10, 3-5) didn’t make up ground because they shot 8 of 32. Big Bend misfired on all 11 of its 3-point attempts after halftime and finished 2 of 19.

“It was one of those nights where the shots weren’t necessarily falling for us, but our ability to defend their perimeter shooters allowed us to come out on top,” said Head Coach Clint Hull. “It started with Luke Clift and Derek Gianukakis setting the tone right out of the gates, but across the board we did a good job of contesting all of their shots from beyond the arc,” Hull added.

Damal Neil added 11 points and 10 rebounds for CCS, while Kevin Cameron handed out seven assists.

The Sasquatch (15-4, 7-1) remained tied for first place in the East Division with Yakima, which defeated Wenatchee 70-63. Spokane will host Wenatchee this Saturday at SCC at 4:00 pm.
