Spokane Gets Big Win on the Road at Wenatchee

ActionThe Community College of Spokane Men’s Basketball team got a win on their first road game of the conference season with at 92-57 win against Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee. The game got off to a slow start for both teams with Wenatchee (1-1, 7-5) holding a slim 10-7 lead after the first seven minutes. Spokane then went on a quick 6-0 run over a 25 second stretch highlighted by Nate Frisbie dunk off of a lob from Chaz Johnson. The Sasquatch kept the momentum going through the end of the first period and took a 46-27 lead into half time capped by a Taylor Petterson 3-pointer at the first half buzzer. Spokane started the second half on a 32-4 run, fueled by their defensive pressure, to pull away.

“Wenatchee was missing a couple of guards and it allowed us to really get up and pressure them defensively,” said Coach Clint Hull. “At the start of the second half our guys really bought in to getting stops and for the first eight or nine minutes we played pretty well at that end of the floor,” Hull added.

The Sasquatch (2-0, 10-4) were led in scoring by Matt Barnes with 15 points. Preston Wynne added 14 points and Chaz Johnson chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. Danny Marshall and Marlowe Brim each added 12 points for Spokane, who shot 57% from the floor as a team for the game.

Spokane will travel to face Yakima Valley Community College (0-2, 7-6) in Yakima on Saturday January 15th at 4:00 pm.
