CCS, Molner Win First Tournament of the 2008-09 Season

The Sasquatch used a 24 shot lead after the first day and another strong team performance on the second day to beat runner up Columbia Basin College by a 47 shot margin.  The team finished with a 4-under par total of 564 for the tournament.

 Freshman, Jason Molner (Longview, WA) earned medalist honors with a 5-under par (67-70, 137) performance in his first career college golf tournament.  Freshman teammate, Kyler Gable (Coeur d’ Alene, ID) finished two shots behind Molner to finish in second place with a 3-under par total (71-68, 139).  Sophomore, Jonathan Lumper (Kennewick, WA) and freshman, Tyler Johnson (Coeur d’ Alene, ID) finished at 2-over par (144) for the Sasquatch and finished tied for fourth in the individual standings.  Freshman Taylor Porter (Coeur d’ Alene, ID) participated as an individual for the Sasquatch and finished in seventh place with a two day total of 147.

I am extremely proud of the guy’s performance.  They worked very hard on their golf games over the summer and have been working very hard in practice as well, “commented Coach, Scott Kramer.

Next up for CCS is a trip to Pendleton, OR to play the Wild Horse Golf Resort.  The team will be competing in the Walla Walla Community College Invitational on October 12-13.
