Spokane Splits Extra-Inning Heartbreaker with Statement Win at Bellevue
After dropping a 12-inning thriller in the opener, Spokane responded with an emphatic 11–3 victory to split Saturday’s doubleheader at Bellevue.
Game One: Bellevue 8, Spokane 7 (12 innings)
The opener was a marathon. Spokane erased a five-run deficit and twice grabbed late leads, but Bellevue walked it off in the 12th to take the 8–7 win.
Bellevue capitalized on four Spokane errors early, scoring five runs through three innings, only three earned. Down 5–0, Spokane chipped away. Trent Woodhouse doubled home a run in the fourth, Harper Dissmore added an RBI single, and Chase Edwards was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to cut it to 5–3.
Dissmore struck again in the sixth to make it a one-run game, and in the ninth Castle Keaton delivered a clutch RBI single to tie it at 5–5.
Spokane grabbed its first lead in the 10th when Anthony Knott singled home Brady Wulf, who scored three times in the contest. Bellevue answered on a balk to even it up. In the 11th, Hunter Derr lifted a sacrifice fly to put Spokane ahead 7–6, but Bellevue tied it again before walking it off in the 12th.
On the mound, Luke McGuire was outstanding in relief, tossing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts, while Tiegan Ayers added two scoreless frames to keep Spokane within striking distance.
Game Two: Spokane 11, Bellevue 3
Spokane wasted no time responding in the nightcap. After Bellevue tied the game 3–3 in the third, Spokane methodically pulled away, scoring in five different innings and breaking the game open with a four-run sixth.
Trent Woodhouse led the charge, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Castle Keaton added two hits and two RBI, while Parker Anderson reached base five times (3-for-3, two walks) and drove in a run.
The sixth inning proved decisive. Woodhouse delivered an RBI single, Keaton reached on an error that plated a run, and Jake Bustamante added an RBI single as Spokane stretched the lead to 8–3.
Spokane tacked on three more in the ninth, highlighted by RBI efforts from Anderson, Woodhouse, and Keaton.
On the mound, Spokane's bullpen locked things down. After the starter allowed three runs in the third, Owen Krasowski earned the win with three scoreless innings and five strikeouts, and Peyton Hayes closed it out with three shutout frames.
Bellevue committed five errors in the second game, and Spokane capitalized, scoring four unearned runs in the victory.
