Spokane Baseball Completes Series Sweep with Shutout Win Over Grays Harbor
Spokane closed out the weekend in dominant fashion on Sunday, riding another strong pitching performance and consistent offensive pressure to a 10-0 victory over Grays Harbor.
The Sasquatch set the tone early and never let up, scoring in five different innings while holding Grays Harbor to just one hit in a complete team performance.
Spokane jumped out in the first inning as Trent Woodhouse delivered an RBI single to bring home Logan Spradling, and later came around to score on an error to make it 2-0.
The offense kept rolling in the second. Brady Wulf drove in a run with a groundout, Hunter Derr came across on a defensive miscue, and Castle Keaton added an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-0.
Spokane added on in the fourth when Keaton picked up his second RBI of the day with another base hit, scoring Woodhouse.
The Sasquatch broke things open in the fifth inning. Derr ripped an RBI double to plate Ty Shepard, and aggressive baserunning led to another run as Derr scored on a passed ball. Jake Bustamante followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 9-0.
Spokane capped the scoring in the seventh as Max Workman reached on an error that allowed another run to cross, sealing the 10-0 final.
At the plate, Keaton led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Woodhouse added two hits and an RBI. Spradling scored three runs, and Derr contributed an RBI double in the win.
On the mound, Spokane was once again dominant. Nathan Fitzpatrick set the tone with five hitless innings, striking out seven, while Sam Weaver closed out the game allowing just one hit and striking out four to complete the shutout.
