Sasquatch Season Ends at NWAC Tournament Against Lower Columbia
Spokane’s season came to an end Friday afternoon as the Sasquatch fell 7-4 to Lower Columbia in an elimination game at the NWAC Baseball Championship Tournament.
Spokane's 2026 season came to a close Friday afternoon as the Sasquatch fell to Lower Columbia, 7-4, in an elimination game at the NWAC Baseball Championship Tournament at David Story Field.
Spokane jumped out to an early lead behind the power bat of sophomore Max Workman, who launched two home runs and drove in all four Sasquatch runs in the loss.
The Sasquatch struck first in the opening inning when Chase Edwards singled and later scored on a two-run homer from Workman to give Spokane a 2-0 advantage.
Lower Columbia answered in the second inning with two runs to even the score before Spokane regained control in the third. Castle Keaton singled to start the frame and Workman followed with another two-run blast to left field, extending the lead to 4-2.
Spokane held that advantage into the sixth inning before Lower Columbia put together the decisive rally. The Red Devils scored five runs in the frame, capitalizing on a pair of Spokane errors before Jackson Wendt delivered a two-run double to push the lead to 7-4.
The Sasquatch threatened late but could not break through against the Lower Columbia bullpen. Rudy Larson tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in relief before Matthew Kosderka closed out the final inning for the save.
Workman finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs to lead Spokane offensively. Edwards added two hits and scored once, while Castle Keaton, Trent Woodhouse, Hunter Derr, and Ty Shepard each recorded hits.
On the mound, Dylan Greenough-Groom gave Spokane 4.1 innings in the start, allowing two earned runs while striking out three. Braiden Boyd provided strong relief late, striking out five over 3.2 scoreless innings.
Lower Columbia finished with 12 hits, led by Jackson Wendt's two RBIs and multi-hit performances from Karsten Hansen, Martyn Hernandez, Harlan Rowe, and Keagan Kelly.
Spokane closes the season with a 33-13 overall record and an NWAC East Region championship.
