Bio
Jeremy Groth enters his 18th season with the Sasquatch and his 14th as head coach. A Curlew, Washington native, Groth returned home after six years at Concordia University in Irvine, California, where he spent two seasons as a player and four as a coach.
Since taking over the program, Groth has established Spokane as one of the premier teams in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). In 13 seasons as head coach, he has compiled a 255-114 record (69%) while guiding 39 players to opportunities at four-year universities. Under his leadership, the Sasquatch have qualified for the NWAC Championships in 11 of 12 eligible years (no championship in 2021 due to COVID-19). Known for an up-tempo, high-scoring style, his teams led the NWAC in scoring four straight seasons from 2014–2018, averaging over 90 points per game.
The pinnacle of his tenure came in 2015–16, when Spokane finished 29-5 and captured the program’s third NWAC Championship. That squad set multiple records, including points in a season (1173), scoring average (96.7 ppg), and three-pointers made (422).
Most recently, in 2024–25, Spokane went 24-7, earned the No. 2 seed in the NWAC Championship Tournament, and advanced to the Elite Eight before finishing fifth overall. The team averaged 82 points per game, and four sophomores moved on to continue their careers at four-year programs.
Program Highlights under Coach Groth:
-

-
NWAC Final Four (3rd place): 2013, 2019
-
NWAC Elite Eight: 2014, 2018, 2022, 2025 (5th place finishes in 2018, 2022, 2025)
-

-

Before becoming head coach, Groth served as an assistant at Spokane, helping the program to East Region titles in 2009, 2010, and 2012, along with NWAC Championship finishes of fifth (2010) and third (2011).
As a player, Groth starred at Curlew High School, where he once held Washington’s all-time scoring record and now ranks fourth. He went on to play two years at Big Bend Community College, earning All-NWAC honors and the conference’s Most Inspirational Player award while leading the Vikings to the NWAC title game as a sophomore.
At Concordia, Groth was a key piece of the 2003 NAIA National Championship team and the 2004 national runner-up. Known for his clutch shooting and defensive grit, he graduated as one of the best three-point shooters in program history, hitting 264 career threes (second all-time) at a .439 clip. His 141 three-pointers in 2003 set a school record that still stands.
After graduating from Concordia with a degree in business/sports management in 2004, Groth completed his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration in 2007 while serving on a coaching staff that went 105-34 with three NAIA Tournament appearances, including the 2007 national championship game.
In addition to coaching, Groth teaches Health, Fitness, and Physical Education at Spokane Community College. He lives in Spokane with his wife, Kelli, and their two sons, Christian (15) and Carson (10).
