Sasquatch Fall to Blue Mountain in Saturday NWAC Action
Despite getting to the free-throw line consistently, Spokane was unable to close the gap in a 96–85 loss to Blue Mountain.
The Spokane men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought conference matchup to Blue Mountain, falling 96–85 on Saturday afternoon at Spokane.
Blue Mountain set the tone early, shooting an efficient 58.8 percent from the field in the first half to build a 52–42 lead at the break. The Timberwolves continued to apply pressure offensively in the second half, matching Spokane's scoring output and preventing any sustained comeback run.
Spokane was led by Eloy Chaparro, who finished with a team-high 20 points, attacking the rim and getting to the free-throw line throughout the game. Javonte Boles added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Grant Olsen chipped in 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Jack Del Mese contributed 11 points, and Kymel Williams scored 10 in limited minutes.
Despite Spokane's ability to draw fouls shooting 24-of-30 from the free-throw line the Sasquatch struggled to keep pace with Blue Mountain's balanced attack. The Timberwolves placed six players in double figures, led by Demontay Kyle's 21 points off the bench and Dionte Hill's 19 points. Blue Mountain also capitalized from beyond the arc and forced key turnovers at critical moments.
Spokane battled on the glass, finishing even with Blue Mountain at 31 rebounds, but the visitors' efficiency and depth proved decisive.
