With the game hanging in the balance, Spokane made the necessary plays in the final minutes to escape Blue Mountain with a 77-75 win on the road.
Spokane battled through a tightly contested matchup Wednesday night, pulling out a 77-75 road win over Blue Mountain to even its conference record at 5-5.
In a game that featured 11 lead changes and strong performances on both sides, the Sasquatch leaned on senior leadership and late-game composure to secure the two-point victory.
Grant Olsen delivered a standout performance, pouring in 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting while adding eight rebounds in a full 40-minute effort. Olsen attacked downhill consistently and went 8-of-11 from the free-throw line, helping Spokane capitalize in key moments down the stretch.
Jasahn Redmond added 14 points on an efficient 6-of-11 shooting night, while Javonte Boles anchored the glass with a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with eight points. Spokane shot an impressive 50 percent from the field as a team (29-of-58), offsetting a tough night from beyond the arc (3-of-16).
The Sasquatch trailed 37-36 at halftime but responded with 41 second-half points, executing offensively and finishing 16-of-22 from the free-throw line overall.
Carson Way provided a key spark off the bench with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting, including a three-pointer, while Eloy Chaparro added five points and four rebounds in limited minutes.
Blue Mountain was led by Jessie Tijerina and Dionte Hill, who each scored 16 points. The Timberwolves knocked down seven three-pointers and forced 19 Spokane turnovers, but struggled at the free-throw line (6-of-11), which proved costly in a game decided by two possessions.
Spokane controlled the paint for much of the night, outrebounding Blue Mountain 32-33 while converting at a higher efficiency from the floor. In the final minutes, timely stops and made free throws sealed the win.
