Spokane Falls in High-Scoring Battle at Yakima Valley
Spokane delivered one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, but a late defensive stop proved elusive in a 92–89 road loss at Yakima Valley.
Spokane shot over 54 percent from the field Saturday afternoon but came up just short in a 92–89 loss at Yakima Valley.
The Sasquatch kept pace in a fast-moving first half, trailing 47–41 at the break before pouring in 48 second-half points to stay within striking distance until the final possessions.
Spokane delivered one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, finishing 31-of-57 from the field and 11-of-25 from three-point range. The Sasquatch also connected on 16-of-21 free throws and dished out 18 assists on 31 made baskets.
Javonte Boles led Spokane with 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting while adding seven rebounds. Kymel Williams provided a huge lift off the bench, scoring 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including four three-pointers and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Jack Del Mese knocked down five three-pointers on his way to 18 points, and Grant Olsen added 17 points and four assists in a strong all-around effort. Eloy Chaparro orchestrated the offense with nine assists.
Despite the strong shooting numbers, Spokane was outrebounded 27–22 and allowed 24 free throws, which proved decisive in a three-point game. Yakima Valley converted 24-of-30 from the line, creating the slim margin in an otherwise evenly matched contest.
Spokane's offensive rhythm kept the game tight throughout the second half, but the Sasquatch were unable to secure a late stop in the closing moments.
