Olsen Drops 27 as Spokane Finishes Strong on the Road
Grant Olsen’s 27-point performance fueled a dominant second half as Spokane pulled away for a 79-69 road win over Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday night.
Spokane found itself in a tight battle early, trailing 30-28 at the break after a back-and-forth first half. The Sasquatch stayed within striking distance thanks to efficient offense and steady guard play, setting the stage for a big final 20 minutes.
The second half belonged to Spokane. Olsen delivered one of his most complete performances of the season, finishing with 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting and going 8-for-10 from the free throw line. The sophomore guard played all 40 minutes, adding six rebounds while taking care of the basketball with just one turnover.
Spokane erupted for 51 second-half points, turning a narrow halftime deficit into a comfortable road win. Javonte Boles made his presence felt inside with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, converting all six of his free throw attempts and grabbing seven rebounds. Kymel Williams added 17 points, knocking down four three-pointers to stretch the floor and help spark the offensive surge.
As a team, Spokane shot 88.5 percent (23-of-26) from the free throw line and controlled the glass with a 33-28 rebounding edge. Defensively, the Sasquatch limited Wenatchee Valley to just 5-of-27 from beyond the arc, using strong perimeter defense to slow the Knights' attack in the second half.
With the win, Spokane closed out the regular season with momentum, powered by Olsen's scoring outburst and a balanced offensive effort across the lineup.
