The Spokane men's soccer team wrapped up regular season play on Wednesday afternoon in a high-stakes rematch with Columbia Basin, falling 2-1 at home but securing a share of the NWAC East Region Championship thanks to their earlier 2-0 win over the Hawks.
Columbia Basin struck early, finding the net twice in the first 21 minutes with goals from Julio Andrade and Jayson Castillo to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Spokane regrouped in the second half and continued to press forward, outshooting CBC down the stretch and earning multiple set-piece opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the 78th minute when Austin Armstrong scored off an unassisted effort to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Despite several late pushes from the Sasquatch, CBC held on to preserve the narrow victory. Goalkeeper Noah Jordan recorded six saves in the match to keep Spokane within reach.
With the result, both Spokane and Columbia Basin finish East Region play at 8-1-1, sharing the regional title. Across their two head-to-head matchups, Spokane edged CBC 3-2 on aggregate, reflecting the evenly matched battle between the top teams in the region.
The Sasquatch now turn their attention to postseason play, carrying strong momentum and defensive discipline into the NWAC Championships.
