Larry Beatty returned to Spokane Colleges in 2024 to lead both the men’s and women’s track and field programs, bringing decades of coaching success and a deep history with Sasquatch athletics.

Beatty first served as Spokane’s head track & field coach from 1996 to 2011, guiding the program to sustained NWAC success and producing 347 All-Americans along with numerous conference champions. During that time, he also led the men’s and women’s cross country teams from 1996–2003 and again from 2009–2011, serving as director of cross country.

His career spans programs across the Northwest, including head coaching roles at Clark Community College (1992–1996) and Western Oregon State College (1990–1992), with responsibilities in both cross country and track and field. Over the years, he has earned more than 25 Coach of the Year honors across men’s and women’s programs, including sweeping the NWAC Men’s and Women’s Track Coach of the Year awards in 2025, a testament to his enduring ability to lead championship-caliber teams.

Beatty’s leadership has produced countless individual champions, record-breakers, and All-Americans, with teams known for their depth, discipline, and competitive spirit. After a decade away from the sidelines, his return marks a new chapter for Sasquatch track and field, built on the same standards of excellence that have defined his career. With a record of success spanning more than three decades, Beatty remains one of the most respected figures in NWAC track and field history.
