Bio
Hayley Gonzalez joined Spokane Colleges in 2024 as pole vault coach for the Sasquatch. In her first year with the Sasquatch program, she coached three conference placers and helped lead both the men’s and women’s teams to NWAC Conference Champions in 2025.
Hayley began her coaching career in the Spokane area in 2017 at Lewis and Clark High School, including several years as a gymnastics coach from 2016–2019. During her time at LC, she coached both the boys’ and girls’ pole vault school record holders ('16 and '11 respectively) and guided five athletes to state meet qualifications. At the club level, Hayley has developed athletes who qualified for New Balance Indoor Nationals, Nike Outdoor Nationals, Nike Indoor Nationals, AAU Nationals, and Junior Olympic Nationals,
A former Sasquatch student-athlete, Hayley was a member of the 2015 and 2016 NWAC Championship teams. She earned conference titles as part of the winning 4x100 relay, placed sixth in the pole vault in 2015, and fifth in 2016 while overcoming multiple injuries throughout her athletic career. In addition to the pole vault, she competed as a heptathlete and sprinter. A Spokane native, Hayley graduated from Ferris High School, where she participated in track and field and played soccer for 15 years, while also serving as the school mascot known as the “Rubber Chicken.”
Beyond coaching, Hayley has remained deeply involved in the sport through mentorship and service. She has worked with the WIAA as a mentor, co-hosted Eastern Washington WIAA Pole Vault Coaches Certifications, collaborated with local camps and clubs, and reinstated high school pole vault clinics at SCC where her own vaulting career began. Since 2021, she has served as an official at The Podium and is now a USATF-certified official.
Coach Hayley brings a genuine passion for pole vault and track and field, along with a strong commitment to athlete development. She and her husband, Francisco, live in Spokane with their young son, who is already growing up surrounded by the sport.
