Bio
Ryan Weidman has been a cornerstone of the Sasquatch track and field program since 1997, first as an athlete and now as one of the most respected throws coaches on the West Coast. Known for his energy, technical expertise, and leadership, Weidman has played a major role in shaping Spokane Colleges’ tradition of excellence in the throwing events.
After competing for Spokane, Weidman transferred to Texas A&M–Kingsville, where he became a two-time NCAA All-American and won the 2000 NCAA Championship in the javelin following a third-place finish in 1999. During his time as a Sasquatch athlete, he placed third at the NWAC Championships in 1997 and was runner-up in 1998.
Since returning to Spokane as a coach, Weidman has developed 244 junior college All-Americans and countless conference champions. His experience also includes three years at the University of Montana, where he coached ten throwers who qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
A highly accomplished athlete in his own right, Weidman competed in the USATF National Championships in 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2011, and took part in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the javelin.
In 2025, Weidman was named Head Strength Coach for all sports at Spokane Colleges, expanding his influence across the entire department.
Weidman and his wife, Jeanene, live in Spokane and have two adult children Kyler and Cyisa.
