Wright Named NWAC Men’s Cross Country Baden Athlete of the Year
Spokane Cross Country added another major accolade this fall as sophomore Alex Wright was named the 2025 NWAC Baden Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Spokane's standout runner Alex Wright has been selected as the 2025 NWAC Baden Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, adding another major honor to an already dominant season for the Sasquatch.
Wright captured the individual title at the 2025 NWAC Championships, winning the 8,000-meter race in 25:23.3. He battled closely with Lane's Andrew Rush and Treasure Valley's Brayden Lamanna before pulling away in the final kilometer to secure the win by nearly 10 seconds.
His victory marked Spokane's third straight individual championship, joining previous medalists Luke Hurd (2023) and Gilbert Langat (2024), and helped lead the Sasquatch to their third consecutive team title. Spokane placed all five scoring runners inside the top eight and all ten competitors inside the top twenty of the 84-runner field.
For Wright and the Sasquatch, the award serves as a meaningful finish to a memorable season and a reminder of the high bar Spokane continues to set.
