Edmonds Pulls Away From Spokane in Season Matchup
Spokane was held to five hits Friday afternoon as Edmonds used timely extra-base hits to secure a 5-1 win at Triton Field.
Edmonds struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a single from Gorospe that brought home the game's first run. Spokane pitcher Cassy Seifert settled in after the early score, working through traffic and keeping the deficit manageable through the middle innings.
The game remained within reach until the fourth, when McCorvey doubled to extend the lead to 2-0. Edmonds then created separation in the fifth. After two runners reached, pitcher Collins delivered the decisive blow with a three-run double to left-center, pushing the advantage to 5-0.
Spokane struggled to generate offense against Collins, who went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out seven without issuing a walk.
Spokane's best opportunity came late. In the seventh, Emma Cooke tripled and later scored on a groundout by Cadence Hyndman, breaking up the shutout. Zoie Maughan led Spokane at the plate with two hits, while Samantha Rensvold and Cadence Hyndman each added a hit.
Despite the loss, Cassy Seifert turned in a complete-game effort, striking out six over six innings while allowing four earned runs.
Standout performers included Zoie Maughan with two hits, Emma Cooke with a triple and a run scored, and Cassy Seifert, who battled through six innings in the circle.
