Spokane Erupts for 19-Run Rout of Douglas
Spokane’s offense exploded Friday evening, piling up 19 runs and four home runs in a dominant 19-0 victory over Douglas.
Spokane wasted no time setting the tone, scoring five runs in the opening inning. Emma Cooke delivered a two-run single to spark the rally, while Shelby Swanson, Olivia Jore, and Samantha Rensvold each drove in runs as Spokane capitalized on defensive miscues to take early control.
The momentum continued in the second. Spokane added three more runs, highlighted again by Emma Cooke, who singled home a run and later scored. By the end of two innings, Spokane led 8-0.
The long ball took over in the third and fourth innings. Emma Cooke launched a solo home run before Lilley Triplett crushed a three-run shot to stretch the lead to 12-0. In the fourth, Olivia Jore connected for her first home run of the game, and Spokane added another run on a sacrifice fly by Addyson Stewart.
Spokane closed the scoring with a five-run fifth inning. Olivia Jore capped her standout performance with a two-run homer, finishing the game with two home runs and five RBIs. Hayle Jones, Izabella Hernandez, and Phoebe Holm each added RBI singles as Spokane pushed the final margin to 19-0.
In the circle, Samantha Rensvold earned the win, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. Kynlea Toner closed out the fifth inning to preserve the shutout. Spokane's pitching staff combined to allow only three hits and struck out four without surrendering a run.
Spokane finished with 14 hits, eight walks, and aggressive baserunning throughout the contest, while Douglas committed five errors.
