Spokane Softball Falls in High-Scoring Home Doubleheader Against North Idaho
Spokane’s offense racked up 23 hits on the day, but North Idaho used big innings in both games to sweep Saturday’s home doubleheader.

Game 1: North Idaho 14, Spokane 12
The opener turned into an offensive battle, highlighted by a six-run third inning from Spokane and a late game-tying homer before North Idaho answered in the sixth.
North Idaho jumped out early with two runs in the first and seven in the second to build a 9-0 lead.
Spokane responded in a big way in the third. Lilley Triplett ignited the rally with a two-run double, Emma Oergel followed with an RBI single, and Phoebe Holm added a run-scoring hit as the Sasquatch plated six runs to cut the deficit to 9-6.
After trading runs in the middle innings, Spokane pulled even in the sixth when Lilley Triplett crushed a three-run home run to tie the game at 12-12. Triplett finished with three hits and five RBIs in a standout performance.
North Idaho answered in the bottom half with a two-run homer to retake the lead at 14-12, and Spokane was unable to rally in the seventh.
Holm drove in three runs, Emma Cooke doubled and added an RBI, and Cadence Hyndman and Addyson Stewart each contributed key hits in the comeback effort.
Game 2: North Idaho 9, Spokane 6
In the nightcap, Spokane struck first but couldn't hold off another big middle inning from North Idaho.
Cadence Hyndman opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single. Spokane extended its lead in the fourth, capitalizing on defensive miscues before Hyndman delivered a two-run single to make it 4-1.
North Idaho answered with a two-run homer in the fourth and broke the game open in the fifth. A run-scoring groundout, a wild pitch, and a two-run double fueled a four-run inning that turned a Spokane lead into a 7-4 deficit.
North Idaho added two more in the sixth to stretch the advantage to 9-4.
Spokane mounted a late push in the seventh when Emma Oergel tripled home a run and later scored on an error, but the rally came up short.
Hyndman led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Izabella Hernandez added two hits as Spokane again totaled 11 hits in the loss.
