Spokane Softball Sweeps Treasure Valley with Offensive Outburst and Late-Game Execution
Spokane powered through a doubleheader sweep of Treasure Valley on Saturday, erupting for 20 runs in the opener before locking down a tighter 4-1 win in Game 2.
Game 1: Spokane 20, Treasure Valley 1 (5 innings)
The Sasquatch offense exploded from the start and never slowed down, piling up 22 hits in a dominant run-rule victory.
Spokane jumped out early in the first inning as Emma Cooke launched a two-run home run, and Shelby Swanson followed with an RBI double to make it 3-0.
The lead continued to grow in the second, with aggressive baserunning helping Emma Oergel and Samantha Rensvold score on wild pitches before an RBI single from Cadence Hyndman pushed it to 6-0.
After Treasure Valley got one back in the third, Spokane answered immediately. Rensvold delivered an RBI single, and the Sasquatch added two more runs on a groundout and a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 9-1.
The fourth inning put the game out of reach as Spokane erupted for 11 runs. Swanson started the rally with an RBI single, followed by a two-run hit from Rensvold. Hyndman added two more RBIs, while Izabella Hernandez, Phoebe Holm, and Danika Curtis each drove in runs to cap the massive inning.
Rensvold led the charge with a perfect five-hit performance and four RBIs, while Hyndman added four RBIs of her own. Cooke chipped in two RBIs, and Spokane finished with 22 hits in the game.
In the circle, Cassy Seifert was dominant, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out 10 over five innings.
Game 2: Spokane 4, Treasure Valley 1
Spokane carried its momentum into Game 2, using a clutch sixth inning and strong pitching to complete the sweep.
The Sasquatch struck first in the opening inning as Emma Cooke doubled to bring home Skyler Struck for a 1-0 lead.
Treasure Valley answered in the fifth to tie the game, but Spokane responded in the sixth with timely hitting. Cooke delivered another RBI double to score Cadence Hyndman, and moments later, Lilley Triplett launched a two-run home run to give Spokane a 4-1 advantage.
Spokane's pitching took care of the rest. Cassy Seifert set the tone early with 1.2 scoreless innings, and Samantha Rensvold was outstanding in relief, allowing just one run over 5.1 innings while striking out five to secure the win.
At the plate, Cooke led the way with two doubles and two RBIs, while Triplett provided the decisive swing with her two-run homer.
