Spokane softball's postseason run came to an end Saturday afternoon as the Sasquatch fell 3-1 to Clackamas in the NWAC Championship Tournament at Delta Park in Portland, Oregon.
After advancing into the tournament's Final Four earlier in the day with a win over Edmonds, Spokane battled through a scoreless pitchers' duel for five innings before Clackamas broke through late to secure the victory.
Sophomore Samantha Rensvold turned in another strong performance in the circle, holding Clackamas scoreless through the first five innings while allowing just seven hits across six innings of work.
The game remained tied 0-0 until the top of the sixth inning when Clackamas capitalized on a Spokane error to take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars added two insurance runs in the seventh inning on a two-run single from Brooklyn Cyr to extend the advantage to 3-0.
Spokane attempted a late rally in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Emma Oergel reached base and later scored on an RBI single from Skyler Struck, but the Sasquatch could not bring the tying run to the plate before the final out.
Struck, Emma Cooke, and Cadence Hyndman each collected hits for Spokane, which was limited to three hits in the contest. Oergel scored Spokane's lone run after reaching base with a walk.
Kenzie West earned the complete-game victory for Clackamas, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two.
The loss closes the season for Spokane following an impressive postseason run that included an East Region championship, multiple wins at the NWAC Championship Tournament, and a Final Four appearance.
